URL parameters for record deletes
KevinNicholls asked:
I have a scenario where I want my user to be able to delete only 1 record at a time while viewing a data grid.  I have unchecked the "show record seletors" and want to add a link (html - possibly an image) field to each record on the view that deletes just that record and brings the user back to the current page.

What is the url for a single record delete?

Kev

  nicks responded:
The URL for single record delete is:

?_method=delete&rowid=#record.rowid#&_table=tablename

You should just put a delete action button on every row of your grid.  The delete action button behaves differently when it is located on the action bar, vs. when it is displayed on every row of the grid.  When it is on the action bar, it refers to the selected records.  When it is on every row of the grid, it just deletes the record that it is on.

  KevinNicholls responded:
  Thanks- works great,

A few more questions about the "_method" url argument.

Should tablename actually be in quotes?

Can someone show me update and insert examples?

Kevin

  dougl responded:
Would you like to simply display an insert or update page?
  KevinNicholls responded:
No - looking to have a link that is preloaded with all info for a new record- that doesn't require the user to actually go to the insert or update page.

Looks like the way to do what i want is through a post method - not through a URL.

  dougl responded:
  <input type="hidden" name="_redirect" value="/support/playground/newviewview.view?_mode=details&amp;RowId=1"><input type="hidden" name="_table" value="AddressBook"><input type="hidden" name="_queryargs" value="_mode=details&amp;AddressBook._mode=insert&amp;RowId=1"><input type="hidden" name="_dataregion" value="AddressBook">

From just looking at the hidden parameters in an insert mode dataregion, I'd say you need:
?_redirect=/default.view&_table=#tablename#&_queryargs=#yourQueryString#&_dataregion=#nameOfYourDataregion

That's a great support thread. Ignore my last post.
