Site backups
KevinNicholls asked:
I know that I can create a "backup" file of any website at any time- but are you guys keeping a "backup" I can get to if needed?

Suppose I make a huge mistake on my website and don't have a backup- do you guys do nightlyish system backup that inlcudes my site(s) that I could get in an emergency?  ( I know it would be more than 24 hrs old- but that is fine).

( I don't have an urgent need right now - I'm just planning backup strategy for my site)

  heathers responded:
  Hi Kevin-

We perform full system backups on a nightly basis.

We have the ability to restore your production web to the previous day's state for a fee.

  dougl responded:
I highly recommend against making this part of your backup strategy.
1. the fee is high
2. we will not promise turn-around times
3. there are much more reliable systems in place to do this.

Want a cheap, comprehensive backup plan?
1. write a script that will make a backup zip of your application.
2. install the script-scheduler module and instruct it to call your backup script nightly.
3. create a scheduled task or cron job on a local computer that will download your backup zips to a safe location.

Rumor has it a developer has a script to accomplish task 1 above. He may also help you with the scheduled task.

I'll ask around..

Looks like the module team has beaten me to the punch..

Coming Soon! -- an improved script-scheduler module complete with auto-backup!
