Date sort
johnkane asked:
I have a fairly straightforward question.
I have a three column data table

NAME, NEXT BIRTHDAY, BIRTHYEAR

I've set the Birthday field as the default sort but it doesnt seem to take the year element into account.

i.e. 2002-11-11 appears before 2001-12-12
but after 2002-09-09

Why is this?  I dont really want to write expressions or scripts if I can avoid it.

Cheers!

  Okay

I set the default sort in the table design rather than the view design.  Sorry!

  John,

How did you calculate next birthday? Or did you enter the data manually?

At the moment, I have entered next birthday manually.  I have in mind to store BYY, BMM, BDD and then have Next Bday as a calculated field made up by stringing together the month and day with either this year if BMM, BDD are greater than today or next year if today is greater.
